Monday Morning Chit Chat - Running Out Of Time Edition

Good morning, all! What a difference a few days makes. I can't say I'm running at full steam, but after just a few days at my new higher thyroid dosage, I can already feel the difference.

Shane and I stayed home this weekend and worked around the house. Yes, that's our normal and favorite weekend routine, but it's been a few weeks since we've had the entire weekend free to stay home, so it seemed like a real treat.

Saturday morning started with me baking muffins for our breakfast. I love to cook, but I don't enjoy cooking or eating as soon as I get up, so this was an unusual thing for me to do. After that, I dropped Kat off with her mom and made a quick run to a grocery store that was having a 1-day-only sale on meat. I bought ground beef and shrimp. I'd also planned to buy a whole pork loin but they had already sold out by 9:30 a.m. Instead, I bought more ground beef than I'd originally planned, 20 pounds in all. I brought it home and repackaged it, making 1/3 into patties, 1/3 into 3/4 pound packages of raw meat (for meatloaves, meatballs, etc.), and cooking 1/3 of it into crumbles. I saved out two patties for our lunch and froze the rest, along with the shrimp.

After lunch I did some laundry and a little bit of cleaning while Shane spent the day working on the sun room. We ended the day with a nice seafood dinner (made here at home) and a Netflix movie while I worked in some loose ends on "the neverending afghan".

Sunday was much like Saturday. Shane did more work on the sun room. It's actually starting to look like something more than a pile of (s)crap.

I did a couple loads of laundry, updated my weekly menu (both the one here on the blog and the one on paper for the upcoming week), did a few odds and ends in the kitchen, and read the Sunday paper. We had supper after Kat got home, got clothes prepped for the school week ahead, and ended the weekend with a little more TV and a little more work on the afghan.

We're running out of time to get things done before winter, so I was really happy that Shane had time to work on the sun room. It won't be complete before the cold weather gets here, but the walls will be up and roof should be on, if nothing else. Finishing details and painting it can wait until spring if necessary.

Speaking of not having enough time, we have garden plants blooming all over the place. We didn't pull up our eggplant plants and they are loaded with blossoms. We have a nice healthy looking tomato plant growing in our compost pile, and also some spaghetti squash there that are setting on little squashes and blooming. None of them have time to produce this late, but it's kind of fun watching them make the attempt.  Obviously, we haven't turned the compost for quite a while.

My week ahead is a little out of the ordinary. I have another doctor appointment (yearly gyn. exam) on Tuesday, we're taking Kat to an indoor water park after school on Wednesday, and Kat's out of school for the day on Thursday. There won't be much that's routine this week.

Hope all of you had a great weekend and have a great week ahead in store!

I'm glad you are starting to feel better. You're weekend sounds lovely--I think our favorite thing to do is stay home and work on things--sometimes together and sometimes--not!! The sunroom is really taking shape--I wish we had one! I don't think we have anything pressing this week--still not sleeping--hope that changes this week. Kevin and I seem to be passing the upper respiratory infection back and forth between us--between that and the not sleeping, I'm a wreck!! I hope you have a wonderful week. Take care.

I'm so glad you're feeling peppy-er! I would LOVE to stay home and work on the house! But it was not to be this weekend...
Good luck with the sun room! That sounds great.

We put out fall lettuce and have been enjoying it already for dinner. We also planted peas, they are blooming, I just hope they produce before they get nipped!

Glad you are feeling better slowly. You were busy this weekend. The sunroom is looking great. Too bad it wont be done this fall so you can start your garden plants in it this winter.

Nice to hear that you are feeling like your old self again....not that your self is old or anything....lol

Neverending afghan huh? I have neverending sewing projects....maybe we should all get together in a circle and pass our neverending project to the right so SOMEONE can finish them.
Perhaps it will be ready for an Anniversary present? 8-)

That would be grand if Shane could get the sunroom operational by winter! I can see it now....all filled up with tray upon tray of seedling for next spring's garden. ;-)

I think your garden has been talking to my garden, as I have tons of volunteers coming up now too...plus plants that never did anything all spring/summer that are NOW deciding to grow and bloom. Makes me want to put a teeny tiny hoop house over them to see if I can coax just one more veggie out of 'em.lol

I'm glad that you are feeling a bit better. When my thyroid is off it seems like the entire world is coming down on me.
And the sun room looks great! Thanks for the picture!
