Birthdays All Around!

Happy Birthday USA and Happy 7th Birthday to Kat!

Since Shane did not have to work this weekend after all, we celebrated Kat's birthday yesterday, along with my daughter and son-in-law (Kat's mom and step-dad).  In order to get everything in, we did things in a mixed-up first, then lunch at a Chinese Buffet, followed by bowling and a few arcade games, then back home for birthday cake.

Kat with son-in-law M, discussing the fine art of chopstickery.

All she wants for her birthday is her two front teeth.

Going for the spare.

Happy Birthday To Kat!

Afterward, Kat left to spend the rest of the weekend with her mom, while Shane and I went to his mom's and step-dad's house for our evening meal.  We ended the night with an oh-so-exciting trip to Wal-Mart, where we tried to navigate their remodeling confusion and where Shane bought himself another dorky hat.

Today we are planting the plants we bought yesterday, making pickles, and will have a quiet supper at home.  It looks like rain this afternoon and evening, so I doubt we even attempt to take in any fireworks displays.

Hope all of you are having a happy holiday and/or great weekend in general.

Happy Birthday to Kat. Sounds like y'all had a lovely time. Chocolate cake, Chinese food and bowling--love it. We could sure use some rain over this way--it's been a while. Fireworks were canceled in our town--we would have to drive at least 30 minutes or more to see any so we will be without this year too. Have a lovely 4th of July!!!

What? No picture of Shane wearing his dorky hat? lol

It's a decent day for planting! Have a wonderfully quiet evening.

Can't get enough of those dorky hats!!!

It's just shy of 1 am here and the neighborhood idiots are finally done shooting off fireworks. We have 2 new neighbors since last July 4th and BOTH of them are fireworks happy. The local pro firework display that was last night is just not enough for these people so they feel they need to pay insane amounts of $ to try to blow off their own hands. lol
Tomorrow night will be worse since all the fireworks stands will be marking their wares down to 50% off so what money they don't spend on lottery tickets and beer will go to buy up MORE fireworks....oh goody!
Another noisy night and cowering dogs to look forward to....lolol

Sheila: I was looking forward to the rain, too. We had a lot at the beginning of June, but then everything dried up.

Lisa B: It WAS a good day for planting...I had to come inside and do a few things, but Shane stayed out until it was too dark to do any more work.

Tug and Frances: Thanks! We had fun. :)

Sluggy: The neighborhood fireworks were still going when I fell asleep around midnight, but the rain was starting then, so I imagine they quit shortly after that. That's also when they were supposed to quit according to city ordinance, but that doesn't seem to matter much around here. I am NOT a fireworks person, so I find the whole idea annoying.
