How I've Been Spending My Evenings

Most evenings lately, I've been working on this baby afghan. One of my nieces will be having her first baby at the end of the month, and the afghan is for him. He'll be the first boy on my eldest sister's branch of the family tree, and the first boy born into our entire family (from my parents on down) in about 20 years.

This afghan took me about a month to make. That was partly because I only worked on it for an hour or so an evening, but mostly because I found a mistake when I was about 1/3 of the way through. It was in the first few rows and would have been very obvious when I did the border stitches, I ended up starting the project over from the beginning.

I find crocheting relaxing and a craft I can work on while talking to Shane or watching television with him. But now I'm ready for something different, so back to the sewing machine I go.

Sych a beautiful afghan. Anyone would be over the moon to receive such a thoughtful gift.

Thanks, Leanne! I hope my niece likes it; I enjoyed making it.

That's beautiful! The only crochet I know is the regular straight stitch, & for some reason I can't relax - it's really tight & makes my hands hurt...my mom also said I hold the hook wrong. ;-)

Very pretty! I crochet, but have a hard time actually completing something I start.

Tug: I've seen people hold the needle a few different ways and still be able to crochet. I hold mine "overhand", I guess. Much like you'd hold a handle on a skillet, only with my thumb more toward the top. BTW, if you'd move across the street, I could show you how to crochet. ;)

Karen: I have that problem, too. As soon as I get a good start on a project my mind wanders to the next one I want to do.

THAT'S how I hold mine! Funny...I'm telling mom it's NOT wrong so na ner na ner. ;-) I'd love nothing better than to move - suppose anyone would notice if I packed the grandkids' things up & took them for a 'ride'?
