Road Trip/Blog Break

Looks like my road trip is on!  I'll be leaving tomorrow morning as soon as I drop Kat at school.  Her mom will pick her up after school as I make my way from Kansas City in Wichita, stopping anywhere and everywhere I like along the way.

I'll spend the night in Wichita, then on Saturday make my way west to Garden City, Kansas.  I'll stay there with Shane until Monday evening.  I'll leave our truck with Shane, then board an Amtrak train to ride overnight and be back in Kansas City by Tuesday morning.  My daughter and Kat will pick me up at the train station and drive me back home.

It's a long complicated story, but one of the reasons I'm driving across Kansas by myself is because Shane's boss' wife won't drive there by herself.  They're going on vacation to Colorado, so it would have made much more sense for her drive out and pick the boss up on the way, but she absolutely refuses to travel alone.  So the boss has to drive back to KC first, leaving Shane out there without a vehicle, or else forcing him to ride back only to turn around and drive right back out.  That would have been 16 hours on the road for him in just two days.

Since I don't mind road-tripping alone (I actually kind of enjoy it), we decided it would be a better situation if I drive out at my leisure rather than have Shane make the quick turnaround trip.  I haven't seen most of the places I'll be going on this trip; it will be a mini-adventure and mini-vacation for me.

So, I won't be back on the blog until at least Tuesday.  Feel free to look around here if you like but try not to leave a mess.  I'll see you next week.

Have a great time! If you are looking for places to eat I can recommend roadfood.com. I understand Kansas is known for its excellent fried chicken. This site will tell you where.
