Monday Morning Chit Chat - Post-Halloween Edition

Happy Monday to you. Hope everyone had a fun Halloween weekend.

Before I tell you about mine, let me just indulge in a mini-rant here. Last night, Halloween night, October 31, we were watching a bit of TV and a Christmas commercial came on.  Couldn't they (the advertisers, the networks) have waited at least until the calendar rolled over to November?

Oh well, I'll look on the bright side.  Today and tomorrow are the only days we have to endure both Christmas and political campaign commercials.

OK.  Now that I have that of my chest, I'll give you what you've all been waiting for -- my family in dorky costumes.

Yeah, that's us, decked out as Shaggy, Velma and Daphne.  We seemed to be a bit of a hit at the party, although I thought both the Oompa-Loompa and Wolverine costumes were much better.  Unfortunately I can't post those pictures since those people don't know about my blog and haven't given me permission to post them.

Our weekend consisted of getting read for the party on Saturday, attending the party on Saturday night, sleeping in on Sunday morning, doing a little cooking and cleaning during the day on Sunday and trick-or-treating with Kat on Sunday night.  Oh, also, spending some time making disgusting noises by pressing some homemade slime into a cup. We're nothing if not sophisticated around here.

Things should calm down a little for me this week.  Kat has a full week of school (finally) and I have a quick doctor appointment to get my thyroid checked again.  Friday evening we are having our friends John and Trish over for supper.  We've been to their house five or six times and it seems like we're letting them do all the hosting, but it took three attempts to invite them to our house.  They both have such big families that there is always something going on for them, and it's usually at their house.  I don't really mind, though; it means less work and more fun for us.

One more thing -- I am going to host another great giveaway this week!  I haven't decided which day yet, so be sure to check back.

If you have time this morning, tell us about your weekend and what you have planned for the next few days.

Y'all are so cute. You make a great Velma. Scooby Doo was my most favorite cartoon when I was a kid. We didn't do anything special this past weekend--we just worked around the house--I did get lots of cleaning done and laundry. I get to start Christmas shopping this week--and of course, I'll go vote tomorrow. I meant to do it last week, but the week got away from me!! I hope you have a good doctors report--have a great week.

Your costumes were the best!!!
And I'm ashamed to say but I spent Sunday morning a bit hung over. But I had fun the night before so it was almost worth it!
Have a great week!

A. Marie: Just a hint. It will be Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.

Sheila: I'm debating on whether to do some Amazon Christmas shopping this week or try to wait another few weeks for more Swagbucks gift cards to add to my balance.

SonyaAnn: Sorry you had a hangover. I didn't drink much, but I think I had more than my limit of the appetizer buffet. That creates a whole different kind of "hang over". ;)

You 3 give me a sudden craving for scooby snacks...I know I said that on your facebook already but it was so good I had to say it again.lolol
Great costumes!

My week? Getting a donation together for the fire dept fundraiser and then trying to get my butt in gear to get something up on eBay. It's the prime season and time's a wasting....

Hope your dr. appt. goes well. ;-)

Laney and I ran into the Dollar Tree yesterday and they were in the process of taking down the Halloween items and replacing them with Christmas...Halloween wasn't even over yet! Geez......

Great costumes!

My weekend went by fast, as it usually does when we don't have many activities scheduled. I slept in on Saturday since yard sale season seems to be over. Took the boys to an open house at the YMCA where they decorated pumpkins, bounced, made magnets, and we took a hayride. Then we hit Goodwill. Scored a pair of Merrell's for $5 and a pair of B.O.C. shoes for $4.

The rest of the weekend was lame. I managed to get all the laundry put away, also got Dan's haircut (but didn't get my money's worth due to his squirming). Did some cooking and baking.

Life in limbo is not fun. It's hard to move forward when you have no idea where you're headed.

This week I volunteer in Nick's school at the book fair on Thursday morning. Nothing else special planned.

I'm irritated about christmas stuff out in the stores already! Every year they keep making it longer and longer. I love christmas season but wish it wasnt so commercial now a days.

I will be working on christmas gifts again this week. I'm so proud of myself for being as far along as I am. I was hoping to be all done come December 1 so I could actually enjoy the month. But then again, I may be back to working by then and even crunched for time more. geeeeesh, I hate being all up in the air about the future. Ok, I'm getting stressed just telling you about it. Gotta go relax! lol

BTW, You guys rocked in your costumes! I absolutely love it.

McVal: Some people at the party knew, but some didn't. One person guessed, of all things, Shrek and Fiona. LOL!

Sluggy: I should probably scrounge around for eBay sellables, but it just doesn't sound like something I want to do right now. I did sell a couple of things on craigslist last week, though.

Melinda: I knew it was you. The anonymous comment and Laney gave it away. :)

Cookbook Junkie: Sounds like you got good buys at the thrift store. Too bad they don't sell houses there so you could get one and be able to settle down a little.

Jill: Thanks for stopping by. I think I may have deleted you from my Google reader. I didn't mean to, so I'd better go look to see if I need to add you back on.

Lisa B: Will you be going back to work at the same place? It will be nice to have the money, but I bet you'll miss your at-home time, too.

You all look great! I spent the weekend taking care of cleaning & laundry since I had family in town last weekend - it was actually nice.

They start putting Christmas out WAY too soon, and every year it gets earlier.

Tug: Thanks to you for the idea of me going as Velma. As soon as I read that, I knew Shane would be on board as Shaggy. Kat didn't want to be Daphne; I guess we kind of forced her into it. But the next night (real Halloween), she went as a pirate. LOL!

What great costumes! You all looked fabulous!

You're very welcome! (I'd rather be a pirate than Daphne, too - lol)
