Monday Morning Chit Chat - A Time To Work Edition

Good morning, everyone! How was your weekend. I hope you had a weekend.  Shane didn't have much of one this time around.  He worked 10 hours on Saturday and 8 hours yesterday on a rush hospital expansion project that has a completion deadline of July 9 (moved up suddenly from July 21st).  That means he'll probably have to work this coming Saturday and talk going around is that he'll even be working Sunday (July 4th) and Monday (the day the company had designated as their July 4th holiday).

So, after not working at all for 2-3 months at the beginning of the year, work is starting to stack up for Shane.  I shouldn't complain, and really, I'm not complaining except for one reason...Independence Day is Kat's birthday.  While he could turn down the holiday work (and would have in the past for her birthday),  he probably shouldn't this year.  Not only will the pay be much more than his regular wage, working will help keep his job a little more secure in terms of his reliability in the eyes of his higher-ups.  And of course, it will help us to get our van paid off and begin rebuilding our emergency fund that will help us get through any future lay-offs.

We had planned to go camping for the holiday weekend, but that fell through, too, when the campground where we have our reservations flooded and was closed.  Instead, we'll have to find something fun to do here around town.

I had a doctor's appointment this morning, just to check how I'm doing with my meds and to get my prescriptions renewed.  She said my labs from last time were good enough that I didn't have to have blood drawn this time.  Yay me!  I'm seeing a nurse practitioner these days, and I really like that she's thorough and has time to have an actual conversation with me.

As for the rest of the week, I'll be spending part of it trying to figure out just what we will do for Kat's birthday and whether or not Shane will be able to participate at all.  I also hope to get some garden photos posted as well as a recipe or two.  And as June comes to an end, I'll be looking at our budget to see if I need to make any adjustments for the second half of the year.  It will be a full week.

How is your week shaping up?

I'm hoping for the humidity to break later today so I'll actually feel like doing ANYTHING around here this week!lol
I have some cleaning/decluttering projects to finish this week before #2 son comes home on the weekend. DH will be gone 2 days retrieving #2 son next weekend so we'll prolly just have the BIL & nephew over on Monday or Sunday for a cook-out. I must say tho, I am already getting burnt out of dogs and burgers this summer....lol

Take that overtime money while you can I say! Can you delay the birthday party for the following weekend? Little kids are flexible especially if you bribe her this weekend with something else.lol

I'm sorry your camping plans got ko'ed....why don't you come here and camp out in our backyard? 8-)

My week is shaping up about like yours. Hubby will have to work Saturday and Monday so that leaves Sunday. I believe we will go Saturday evening to Adrian's firework display. It's usually a good one.

Check my blog later this afternoon for a giveaway you will be interested in.

Not a good week here. Had to have my 12 yr old dachshund put to sleep this morning. The rest of the week can only get better, right?

I'm glad Shane is getting lots of work but I'm sorry he won't be able to participate in Kat's birthday. I hope your doctor's appointment went well and the meds are still working for you. I can't believe half of 2010 is gone already. I am going to henna my hair again today--so that is one day gone then I have lots of cleaning to do. Hope you have a great week.

Sluggy: Should we knock first, or just go ahead and set up camp?

Lisa B: I haven't been to the Adrian display. Is it as good a Drexel's? Do they ask for a donation like Drexel?

Frances: Good for you! Short work-weeks are awesome!

Miranda: So sorry to hear about your pup. :(

McVal: Thanks. :)

Sheila: I think we've reached a happy medium on the meds. If I can't get rid of them entirely, I'll settle for fewer headaches that are farther between and not as severe. :)
