Lovely flowers--my favorite picture is the asparagus though. Looking at your picture of the red bud buds makes me think I have some of those trees in my yard. Could you post a picture after they leaf out? Yep, even the dandelions look nice--we have LOTS of those too!!
Glad to see y'all are getting some spring too.

Sheila: I'm not sure why the red bud looks such a bright fuschia in the picture. It's really more a purplish-red. Some are pink. We have a white bud tree in our yard, too. Same thing with white blossoms. It's about ready to bloom now, too. I'll try to get pictures when it does.

It looks wonderful!!! We are still in the "rainy season" here. And we have a chance for tornadoes tonight. I probably shouldn't plant anything yet.
Hey, how do you start asparagus? I don't think that we are going to start a big garden this year. We have too much going on. And Den isn't really up for it. So, I think that I'm just going to garden in my little space by the back door. And I would love to start asparagus.

SonyaAnn: Asparagus takes 2-5 years to harvest, depending on the variety. We planted ours last spring and it grew well, so this year we might get a little bit to eat. Right now there are only three spears up, though. It will eventually spread and we'll have a lot more than we planted. You can buy it in groups of 3 or 4 starter roots just about anywhere...Lowe's, Home Depot, W-M, or any garden center.

Thank you! I'm not really a gardener so anything I learn is new. But I have learned that I can grow chives. Holy hell, they are out of control! I'm going to dig some up and give them away.

The flowers, even the dandelions are beautiful! I am quite envious that your asparagus has already come up. I think I have a few more weeks before I will see my asparagus. Fortunately, the daffodils and other bulbs have made an appearance to brighten are dreary days!

SonyaAnn: I'd take some if we lived closer to one another. Why don't you move here?

Alea: Thanks for visiting. I'm so happy spring is here. Winter was grueling this year.

Very nice! I can't wait until the colors come out here, I'm *really* tired of the drab.

Nice getting some color back, eh? Yesterday I took the dog for a walk back in the woods and I, too, took a few pictures, also of the dandelions and wild violets, quite a lot of them already! Don't know why dandelions get such a bad rap, they're quite pretty, actually. Not unlike mums, people pay for those. Pretty the red buds you posted here, too, very vibrant.

Tug: Did you get snow again last week? Looked like it on the radar.

Excellent pictures! I'm so jealous you have asparagus. I have to get some planted this year!
Where's the best place to get the tubers? Have you ever planted any white asparagus?

Did you plant any potatoes last year? I want to try planting some of those this year also.

We went mushroom hunting today and I found some wild violas/pansies. they were so cute. Wish I could have dug them up!

Lisa: I'm sure we bought our asparagus (last year) at either W-M, Lowe's or Home Depot.

We had volunteer potatoes last year from some rotting whole potatoes I threw in our compost pile. We transplanted them out to large deep containers and ended up with about a dozen potatoes. This year we're going to try to grow some on purpose.

Did you find any mushrooms? I love morels!

We were lucky if we got an inch, & it was gone by noon. Supposed to be 70's & 80's this week. PERFECT. OMG, what will I bitch about? :-0
