Monday Morning Chit Chat - Margarita-On-A-Stick Edition

In our neighborhood, the ice cream truck comes by just about any day there's a sunny sky.  It's only once or twice a year, though, that we flag down the driver and buy something.  Yesterday was one of those days, and I got this:

It's a Limon popcicle with the flavors of lemon, lime and salt!  OMG! (Oh My GOOD!)  Too bad there isn't some tequila in there, too.  They're made by Blue Bunny, but I haven't seen them in any of the grocery stores.  I'm going to stop in at some of our local Hispanic markets to see if they have them by the box...they would surely be less expensive than buying them off the truck.

Before we bought our treats, we spent most of the day throwing stuff out to the curb for scrappers to collect.  We had an older fridge that quit working over the winter and wasn't good enough to try to repair and some other odds and ends.  We put a listing on craigslist and soon a man from just a few blocks away came and loaded everything into his truck and will take it to the recycling center for a little extra money.  We could have done that, too, I suppose, but our main objective this particular weekend was to reclaim space in our garage.  So we helped out a neighbor by giving him some cash-generating scrap for free, and he helped us out by taking it off our hands with almost no effort on our part.

While Shane was clearing out the garage, I put together a couple of big boxes of clothes and household items for the thrift store, and Kat even voluntarily gave up a box full of books and toys.  All of those boxes will get dropped off this morning.  All of this followed a Saturday when I was feeling a little down and lot overwhelmed about the amount of junk we have in our home, specifically our garage and and basement.  It was time for a purge and I feel a lot lighter now.

Looking to the week ahead, I'll be going to Lowe's this morning right after dropping Kat at school to order the dishwasher and schedule installation, and Kat has swim lessons two nights this week.  There isn't much else on the calendar this week, thank goodness.  I just want to stay home, but that's not unusual for me.

I have an unremarkable meal plan for this week, but I'm going to look through some of my photos to see if there's anything interesting to eat that I haven't shared yet.

It's such an exciting life that I life.  What will you be up to this week?

Sounds like you had a very busy weekend. I love to get things cleared out like that. One half of our garage is an exercise room for my daughter and I park my car in the other half but I noticed lately, it is getting a little tight to get out of the car. We are slowly building up another load of things we need to get rid of.
I think I see a vet visit in my future this week and a few other appointments but that is about all.
I hope you have a great week.

So let me know how your appliance shopping goes. We are going tomorrow.

Sheila: We have the lame excuse that our vehicles won't fit in our garage even if it was empty (design flaw). LOL!

CJ: Those things don't sound like any fun at all. Hope everything turns out ok for you.

Beth: I want another one!

OBQ: It went well! They DID have the 10% sale they told me about last week. I had to buy a braided water line (returnable if I don't need it) and I went ahead and bought a 3-year protection plan, but with the sale, the tax waiver, the $30 dollar rebate from Frigidaire and the $75 rebate from MO (still not a done deal), we'll end up paying just $20 for installation and the protection plan! Good luck with your shopping!

"overwhelmed about the amount of junk "-I'm feeling the same way. I would love to go through and get rid of almost everything! But no one else here seems to think that there is a problem. I think that it would be so much easier to just get a dumpster and pitch everything in the garage!
We don't have much on the list for this week either. I love those weeks!

Wow! You had a productive weekend!
I did some ruthless sorting a few months ago and took it all down to the Salvation Army. Do you know they don't accept books anymore??!!! After 2 more weeks of the books sitting in my car, I finally unloaded them at the Goodwill. Thank goodness!!!

SonyaAnn: Believe me, I've thought about getting a dumpster and doing just that. Wonder how long it would take for us to fill the garage back up again.

McVal: Wow. They won't take books? Some stores here won't take magazines, but I think all of them will take books.

Next time you get ahold of one of those salty limon sicles, put it into a glass of tequila and make a margarita slushee!lol
Mmmmmmm

Good for you for cleaning out!
I think we are all getting the decluttering bug lately....

We are thinking about getting rid of the upright standing freezer. It's slowing dying and the number of times I have to manually defrost it(aka putting the food in coolers and taking a hammer to the iced over shelves lol)is getting to be too frequent. I know we need to replace it so will be looking for a deal in the coming months.

Happy Monday!

I sent an email to Blue Bunny and found out those pops are only sold individually via ice cream trucks, convenience stores and vending machines. :(

I think our freezer is working ok again now that we cleaned the coils, but we need another spare fridge. It's very unlikely we'll buy new, but we'll consider a good used one. If we find something better than what we have in the kitchen, it will go in there and our current one will go to the garage.

You all make me so glad I don't have a garage. 'Cause it would be full of junk, I am sure.
