Easy Beer Bread

I found this recipe posted several places on the internet. It's really easy and goes great with any hearty soup or stew. It's also great dipped in ranch dressing (I accidentally found out). I used a dark beer; of course, that made a darker-tasting bread. Adjust accordingly to your own taste.

Lazy Beer Bread

3 cups self-rising flour*
1/3 cup sugar
1 12-oz bottle of beer

Mix all and spread into a greased loaf pan. Bake at 350°F for 50-60 minutes.

*If you don't keep self rising flour on hand (I don't), combine 1-1/2 teaspoons salt, and 1-1/2 Tablespoons baking powder. Add enough flour to total three cups.

I love beer bread. You can't get much easier than that!

There is a home party that sells a mix for this (how silly is that) and they have you melt 2 TBS of butter and pour it over the top of the batter before you put it in the oven. I'm going to try that on mine next time (hello extra calories)

I am in a bread making mode. I've got to try this one out.
