Weekly Menu Retrospective - 10/24 to 10/31

I'm a menu planner, but when I've tried to post my weekly menus here in the past, they weren't accurate because I often change things at the last minute. On the other hand, I really like being able to look back to see what we've eaten, what we loved, what we disliked, and most of all being able to link to the recipes on my menus that have come from other blogs. That's why I prefer to post my weekly menus after the fact.

This past week was another week that I didn't do much "real" cooking. It is what it is, but I'm hoping to change the trend during the week ahead.

Sunday, October 24 – Sub sandwiches from our local sandwich shop.

We were still feeling lazy after moving my daughter and son-in-law the day before, so we bought subs. Kat had meatball, Shane had buffalo chicken and I had “The Gladiator”, which was a little of everything.

Monday, October 25 – Patty melts made from burgers on the grill, French fries, homemade freezer applesauce.

This was a good day to grill.

Tuesday, October 26Chili with corn chips and sour cream, carrot and celery sticks with peanut butter-honey dip.

Our favorite way to eat chili is with sour cream and corn chips. The peanut butter and honey offset the spiciness of the chili.

Wednesday, October 27 – Cheddar brats, macaroni and cheese, peas and carrots, homemade freezer applesauce.

Yet another really quick meal because I was too lazy to cook something earlier in the day.

Thursday, October 28 – Hot dogs on buns, canned soup, bananas.

I started feeling sick just before supper. Kat was at a birthday party and didn’t feel like cooking, so I took the easy way out. Unfortunately, Shane and I both thought the name-brand canned soup was the worst soup we’ve eaten. Ever. Let’s just say it was a very good thing I had bought it on sale and with a coupon. What a waste of money.

Friday, October 29 – Homemade chicken noodle soup, crackers, bananas.

By then, I was feeling better, but homemade soup still hit the spot.

Saturday, October 30Spooky Spider Web Pizza, Swedish Meatballs (made with turkey and Italian sausage).

We attended our friends’ Halloween party. The pizza and meatballs were my contribution to the buffet.

Now you know...lol....I need to know the name/variety of that "name brand soup" that you have deemed the worst soup ever.
Just so I can avoid it in my travels, of course....lol

Beyond lunch today(Halloween)when I feed them a semi-nutricious meal, I am NOT responsible for anything my family eats until Monday.lol

Some weeks are just like that...either the time gets away from you or you just "don't feel like it".

That being said, I need to be better at planning ahead.

Now, Sluggy, I won't name names. But I will link to a picture.

Shelli: I've had a couple weeks like that in a row. I *need* some home cookin'.

I always feel so much less stress when I do a weeks worth of meal planning.

I like your posting after the fact. I also like to look back and see what/when we ate stuff.

Lisa B: It just works better for me to post after the fact. This week was a good example; the party food was the only thing that was on my original meal plan.
