Product Review: Goody Spin Pin

Maybe some of you have already seen these, but I just discovered them last week.  They are called Spin Pin and they are made by Goody.  Basically, they are a pair of corkscrew-shaped hair pins.

I love them!  I don't know about you, but in this hot and humid weather, I like to have my hair pulled up most of the time.  My hair is pretty thick and about shoulder length; the pair of pins were able to hold all of it up in a bun for the entire day.   They didn't make my head sore, either, like some of the octopus clips do.

I bought mine at Target for $5.99.  I saw a spot for them at Wal-Mart for a little cheaper, but they were out of them.  I also saw them at Walgreen's and CVS, but they were a little more expensive and only in the blonde shade.  I needed mine to be brunette.  (Ok, ok, I need mine to be brunette and gray, but I don't think they make those.)

Disclaimer:  I was not paid or compensated in any way for this review.  I just got lucky enough to see these on the store shelf one day when my hair was sticking to the back of my neck.

Oooohh...those pins look amazing! I've never heard of them. My daughter has really thick hair and this would really help hold her hair up!

So do you twist your hair up and then screw them in?

I got my washer rebate check in the mail yeterday too!!

A. Marie: A pair should do the trick. Four of them definitely would work!

Osage Bluff Quilter: Yes, exactly. I twist my hair into a bun, then screw the pins in.

Did you get the extra amount on your rebate, too?

I wonder if they would work for super thick hair. I have a hard time finding octo clips that work for me. I might have to look into using them.

I have a rain check from Walgreens for Goodie. I wonder if I can get them since they have never gotten in the other things? It would make them pretty cheap. If I remember right the raincheck is for .99... hmmmmm.

Joan: It's hard to say, but I would think they'd hold thick hair better than fine hair. Let us know if you try them, or if you think you need 4 instead of 2.

There is also a Goody product called Modern Updo or something like that...same series as the Spin Pin. It holds up more of a French Twist type do and looks like it works like chopsticks, if you've ever used those in your hair.

Lisa B: That would be an awesome deal if they'll do it! I guess all you can do is try and find out if it will go through or not.

I have seen commercials for these. I wondered if they would work. Do they come in blonde and silver? LOL!

Frances: No, but if you get them at Wal-Mart, you can pick up some spray paint on the same trip. But you'll have to decide whether the paint is for the pins or for your hair.

Those look so neat. I'll have to get them when there is a sale. Contact the company and see if you can't do a giveaway.
And my hair is brown/gray. Damn aging!

How do you get them out without pulling a bunch of hair with them? I totally would see a bald spot in my future. :-/

I've been wondering if these work! I can't get bobbie pins to do anything for me. Also my hair is too thick of octopus clips. I have to use the long clips and they aren't comfortable at all. All I want is a simple messy bun. I'll have to try those. Thanks for the review.

LOL @ Tug!

I'd like to see these in use....time for another photo AnnieJ....hehehe

SonyaAnn: That's a good idea. I might try it.

Tug: Righty-tighty, lefty-loosey. No bald spots. ;)

Kelli: The Goody website shows the girl with the messy bun, but the directions say to make a tight bun. I usually make a tight one, because my "intentionally messy" always looks like and unintentional mess. :)

Slugmama: Oh, please. I can barely take a photo of the front of my head. If I aim for the back of my head, I'll probably wind up with a picture of my ass or ankles. :P
