There...that takes care of the Valentine's Day celebration for this year. Whew! I'm worn out by the festivities.
Can it be that Shane and I are the only people who don't celebrate Valentine's Day? I'm not big on cards, chocolates or flowers. I can't remember the last time I wore any kind of jewelry, not even my wedding ring (I outgrew it...oops). I'm definitely not into skimpy lingerie in weather like this. So, except for a small gift and a bit of candy for Kat, the day goes by basically unnoticed.
Last week was busy, busy, busy. School's out tomorrow for Presidents' Day, but I'm hoping for a quieter week starting Tuesday. Maybe I can come up with some ideas for blog posts.
Shane is still not working. :( Oh, wait!! He literally just came up from working in the basement to tell me he got the call to go back to work tomorrow! The job is on a military base, so he may spend as much time getting his clearance tomorrow as he will working, but whatever. Money is money and he'll get paid to wait if that's what ends up happening.
I guess this might give us a reason to celebrate today after all.

We didn't do anything too special. No cards, but we did get each of the kids a new inexpensive book. We made some homemade candy (which I posted on my blog) with ingredients I already had on hand. The pollen in flowers usually bothers me so much that I told my husband not to buy them anymore...so you're not alone!
We don't really do much for Valentine's Day. I told my hubby, when we were first married, that I really wasn't "into" Valentine's Day, because it seems like such a "commercial" holiday. I'd rather he do special things for me year-round than just one special day! :)
So, he's off the hook, as he puts it, and he does nice things for me on the spur-of-the-moment, and just not on Feb.14. Right now, he's looking at the framed-up kitchen closet and trying to figure out how he is going to finish it. It might not be finished until next Valentine's Day, but that's okay! LOL
We didn't do anything at all romantic, but I tried to make it fun for the kids. I made heart-shaped pancakes (cookie cutters) for breakfast and shaped the crusts on my homemade pizza tonight into hearts. I even made my son's favorite cheesecake - it's a recipe we developed together. :-) We all got a little gift but nothing major at ALL. It's just another day, for the most part. And I like it that way.
Valentine's day is pretty simple here. A bit of candy that I got really cheap and a $10 gift. At least, I remembered. I'm having trouble with that lately!
And I'm glad to hear that Shane is going back to work. Keep us posted!
Yay Shane! Crossing fingers this job comes thru...
I couldn't wait for Tuesday.....get the dh and the kids out of my hair after 6 days home.....well they did leave for a few hours on friday since school wasn't cancelled that 1 day last week.ugh
Quiet finally reigns in my house from 8-2 again!lol
I love Valentine's Day! I do special things for Hubby that day, since he does special things form me all year long. I bought him flowers, candy and Valentine's boxer shorts. And made him a delicious dinner. I don't need to receive anything on VDay. I just love to give to Hubby.
We don't really bother about Valentine's day. Mind you I forget my anniversary every year so Valentines doesn't have a hope of getting a look in:) Though Bob did buy me a new blade for my rotary cutter on Saturday so (huge stretch here) we'll call that a valentine's gift.
