Tuesday Tidbits

I'm a few days late, but I hope all of you (especially you female readers) had a Happy Mother's Day. I spent the holiday cleaning my kitchen from top to bottom. I know that doesn't sound like much of a holiday, but it's what I wanted to do, so I did.

Instead of going out to eat, Shane and I went to the grocery store and bought some food for the grill that we wouldn't ordinarily buy: sea scallops and a couple of store-prepared stuffed salmon fillets. We had a nice seafood dinner at home instead of enduring a crowd and a long wait at a restaurant.

I'm over the cold bug I had last week, but Kat has it now. She stayed home from school yesterday, which meant I didn't have a lot of time for the computer. She went back to school today and I'm spending the day trying to catch up on laundry and other chores. I spent the entire morning outside working in the garden and (finally) re-potting the herbs I started from seeds last month. I planted some beet seeds in the one remaining empty space in our garden, and planted some asters and African daisies that my daughter gave me for Mother's Day in a deep window box. I watered everything, using captured rain water where it was convenient to do so, and a hose where it wasn't. The forecast calls for rain this afternoon, but I watered a little anyway because Missouri forecasts aren't exactly reliable.

As if I'm not busy enough around here, my daughter sent me a link to Tastespotting. It's a website that features hundreds (probably thousands) of foods photographs. The photos alone would keep me enthralled for hours, but here's the kicker: just click on the photo and you'll end up at the blog or website that includes the written recipe.

OMG! I'll never get away from the computer now. And I swear I'm going to make these Bacon-Maple Cookies. How can they not be fantastic?

I wouldn't be a very good friend, would I, if I didn't share?

OMG with those COOKIES! Sound delish. wow. Did you send the link to Shiny Happy Donna? Your Mother's Day dinner also sounds wonderful - I'd just as soon have dinner grilled for me at home than go out and fight crowds - I.R.Old. LOL.

Glad you're feeling better, and seems Kat is as well.

I spent Mother's day in the garden. But I had a lot of help so I won't complain. I'm glad that you got to do what you wanted for the day.
Glad I found you and your blog.
