Good Friday (aka We Finally Caught A Break)

Shane just called me on his way home. As of 7:00 a.m. this morning, he was promoted to foreman. It wasn't quite out-of-the-blue, as a couple of the seasoned foremen had told him it was in the works. He'd taken note of what they said, but wasn't holding his breath that it would really happen.

He won't "run work" for a while because all the current jobs have foremen already, but he will start earning $3.50 more an hour right away. That will really help us out. Later, once he is the foreman on a job of his own, he might also get gasoline reimbursement. That would help a lot, too, because he never seems to work less than 30 miles from home.

He also accepted an offer to work overtime tomorrow.

Things are starting to look up.

That's awesome! Just from the one day we spent with you guys I could tell that Shane's a good guy, and very deserving of the promo.

Thanks everybody. It's really good news, although there's a chance I jumped the gun with the amount of the raise. That increase is actual for general foremen (based on union scale), not regular foremen. But as far as Shane knows, this particular company skips the regular foreman step and promotes straight to general foreman's wages. So, we'll have to wait until his check next week to find out for sure.

And Nobody, you're more than deserving of a promotion, too. Maybe we can send some luck your way.

Oh Annie, that is wonderful news. As I told you in email, 2008 has to be better for you, Shane, hubby and I.

Tell Shane hubby and I said "Way to go!"

Hugs to you both.
