Dining Out On The Cheap

I saw this link to Restaurant.com on Thrifty Mommy's blog today and decided to check it out.

Restaurant.com has gift certificates on sale for 60% off right now. That means a $25 gift certificate that they have regularly priced at $10 is now just $4. All you have to do is add the certificates to your shopping basket, enter THANKS as the promo code and click to recalculate your total.

Most of the gift certificates have stipulations, such as a $35 minimum purchase requirement and gratuity automatically added, but after doing the math and comparing it to our spending and tipping habits when we go out to eat, we'll still realize a savings of up to 50%.

I was able to get seven gift certificates with a total value of $145 for only $22.40, all to restaurants we've not yet tried (a big draw for me). Since we only dine out once a month or so, these will take us well into 2008. I was also able to pay via my PayPal account instead of exposing my credit card/debit card info once again. Another plus.
